The Lifecycle of a Butterfly

The Life cycle of a Butterfly

1. An egg is laid on a leaf by a female butterfly.

2. When the egg hatches, a caterpillar comes out. They eat lots of the leave that they hatched onto.

3. When the caterpillar is done growing, they form theirselves into a chrysalis. In the chrysalis, the caterpillar is changing into a butterfly. This process is called metamorphosis.

4. It takes 7-10 days for the butterfly to emerge from the chrysalis. When the butterfly comes out, it is ready to fly and reproduce. The process will then start again.
